The England international, Phil Foden, has been named the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year for his outstanding performances for Manchester City. Foden has impressed with 16 goals and seven assists in 31 league appearances, showcasing his versatility in various positions across the pitch.
His form has earned him praise and recognition, including the FWA’s Footballer of the Year award, with Foden receiving 42% of the votes. The FWA chair, John Cross, lauded Foden’s exceptional season, noting his ability to excel both out wide and in the middle.
Foden’s contributions have positioned him as a valuable asset for the England national team, especially as they prepare for the upcoming Euros. In addition to Foden’s accolade, Khadija Shaw from Manchester City received the FWA’s women’s Player of the Year award.
Shaw has been instrumental in the Women’s Super League, scoring 21 goals in 19 appearances and playing a significant role in her team’s success. Despite her impressive form, Shaw is facing a setback after breaking her foot, which will sideline her for the remaining matches of the season.
