Man Utd: Ten Hag confirms four injuries ahead of Aston Villa tie

Erik ten Hag, the Manchester United boss, will be missing four first-team players in the upcoming match against Aston Villa. Injuries in defense have hit the Dutchman hard as he aims to continue the team’s unbeaten run of five matches, which included a significant win over West Ham in their last outing. Fan favorite Lisandro Martinez has been dealing with injuries, having already missed three months of the season due to a foot injury.

Although he returned shortly after the New Year, his comeback was cut short when he was forced off with a knee issue that is expected to keep him out for the next two months. Ten Hag expressed disappointment at the setback but also showed confidence in Martinez’s return by the end of the season. Further adding to the defensive woes, fellow defender Tyrell Malacia is also ruled out for the upcoming Villa clash, along with long-term absentee Mason Mount.

Additionally, Aaron Wan-Bissaka suffered a fresh setback after working his way back into team training, complicating the situation for the Red Devils. Diogo Dalot is expected to start at right-back as a replacement for Wan-Bissaka, while the absence of Martinez poses a challenge for the team. Ten Hag mentioned the availability of other center-back options and the possibility of Luke Shaw filling in the position, providing reassurance for the team’s defensive strategy.
