At first, it appeared that Arsenal had missed out on a crucial player that could have significantly strengthened their defense. However, with hindsight, it now seems that they actually avoided a problematic situation as Cancelo’s form at Barcelona has significantly declined. Cancelo, once considered a world-class player, has recently made several costly mistakes, including conceding penalties and being responsible for crucial goals against teams like Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

His poor recent performances for Barcelona have raised concerns about his abilities. Given Cancelo’s lack of form at this critical juncture in the season, it is evident that Arsenal was fortunate that he chose to join Barcelona over them. The Gunners have maintained a strong defensive record without him, and it is clear that a defender making regular mistakes under pressure could have been detrimental to their performance. As for Cancelo’s future, a move to Arsenal seems unlikely, especially considering his current contract with City and his recent form.

The president of Barcelona has expressed interest in extending Cancelo’s stay at the club, but it remains to be seen what will transpire. Cancelo, who is valued at around £34million by City, has been a regular starter for Barcelona this season. However, his performances have not met expectations, and it appears that Arsenal can only be grateful that he did not join their ranks.
